- Lomotil Loperamide is for the treatment of acute diarrhea such as traveler's diarrhea, acute infectious diarrhea, and enterotoxigenic diarrhea.
- Also for the relief of pain caused by chronic diarrhea from irritable colon and malabsorption syndrome.
- Use in patients with colostomy or ileostomy to control intestinal transit and improve stool consistency.
- For acute diarrhea: the starting dose is 2 tablets for adults and 1 tablet for children older than 12 years old followed by 1 tablet after each loose stool not to exceed 6 tablets in a 24-hour period. For chronic diarrhea: the starting dose is 2 tablets for adults and 12 tablets for children older than 12 years old. This dose will be adjusted until 1 to 2 solid evacuations per day occur which is usually obtained with a maintenance dose of 1 to 6 tablets per day.
- Administer with or without food.
- Each tablet contains 2mg of Loperamide HCl.
- Store at temperatures not exceeding 30ºC.
